Ma Khin celebrates two showcookings that trace Steve Anderson’s culinary journey

With the arrival of spring, Ma Khin opens a new location and, to celebrate, presents a series of activities and showcookings taking place in May and June 2025. These events offer a look back at the career of its chef and driving force, Steve Anderson. Through two special showcookings, we’ll take a journey through time to pay tribute to Steve’s first two restaurants in Valencia: Baalbec and Seu Xerea. Each session will explore the flavors that defined an era and feature a special menu created for the occasion. It’s a unique opportunity to relive the essence of two culinary projects that, in many ways, still resonate in Ma Khin’s current proposal.

Tuesday, May 6, 2025, 7:00 p.m. – Tribute to Seu Xerea

In 1996, Steve Anderson opened the doors of Seu Xerea, a spot designed to bring the flavors of London’s Soho to the heart of Valencia, just steps from El Miguelete. It was a place where fusion cuisine allowed people to travel the world without leaving the city. “Like home—if your home is the world,” visitors used to say. Now, in this showcooking, Steve returns to his roots and revisits three iconic dishes from that pioneering restaurant:

  • Panzanella salad

  • Spinach gnocchi

  • Clòtxinas in Thai green curry

After the demo, guests will join the chef for a shared dinner, promising great conversation and an even better after-dinner atmosphere.

Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 7:00 p.m. – Tribute to Baalbec

Baalbec was Steve Anderson’s vision of the cuisine from the other shore of the Mediterranean. Together with Javier Lajara (head chef of Baalbec and now of Ma Khin), he will show guests how to prepare three emblematic dishes from Baalbec:

  • Fattoush salad

  • Zucchini croquettes

  • Bougiourdi-style fish

Following the demonstration, attendees will enjoy an exclusive dinner in the company of the chefs.
